<p>La commune est située dans le <a href="Bassin_Seine-Normandie" title="Bassin Seine-Normandie">bassin Seine-Normandie</a>. Elle est drainée par la Risle<sup id="cite_ref-5" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-5"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>5<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup><sup class="reference cite_virgule">,</sup><sup id="cite_ref-Géoport_6-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Géoport-6"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>Carte 1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>.
</p><p>La <a href="Risle" title="Risle">Risle</a>, d'une longueur de 145&nbsp;<abbr class="abbr" title="kilomètre">km</abbr>, prend sa source dans la commune de <a href="Planches" title="Planches">Planches</a>, au niveau des collines du Perche dans le département de l'Orne (altitude 275&nbsp;<abbr class="abbr" title="mètre">m</abbr>), constitue la limite ouest de la commune et se jette dans la <a href="Seine" title="Seine">Seine</a> à <a href="Berville-sur-Mer" title="Berville-sur-Mer">Berville-sur-Mer</a>, après avoir traversé <span class="nowrap">52 communes</span><sup id="cite_ref-7" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-7"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>6<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>.

<p>Plusieurs études ont été menées afin de caractériser les types climatiques auxquels est exposé le territoire national. Les zonages obtenus diffèrent selon les méthodes utilisées, la nature et le nombre des paramètres pris en compte, le maillage territorial des données et la période de référence. En 2010, le climat de la commune était ainsi de type <a href="Climat_de_la_France#2010-T3" title="Climat de la France">climat océanique dégradé des plaines du Centre et du Nord</a>, selon une étude du <a href="Centre_national_de_la_recherche_scientifique" title="Centre national de la recherche scientifique">Centre national de la recherche scientifique</a> (CNRS) s'appuyant sur une méthode combinant données climatiques et facteurs de milieu (topographie, occupation des sols,&nbsp;<abbr class="abbr" title="et cetera">etc.</abbr>) et des données couvrant la <a href="Normale_climatique" title="Normale climatique">période 1971-2000</a><sup id="cite_ref-Joly_9-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Joly-9"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>7<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. En 2020, le climat prédominant est classé Cfb, selon la <a href="Classification_de_K%C3%B6ppen" title="Classification de Köppen">classification de Köppen-Geiger</a>, pour la période 1988-2017, à savoir un climat tempéré à été frais sans saison sèche<sup id="cite_ref-10" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-10"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>8<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. Par ailleurs <a href="M%C3%A9t%C3%A9o-France" title="Météo-France">Météo-France</a> publie en 2020 une nouvelle typologie des <a href="Climat_de_la_France" title="Climat de la France">climats de la France métropolitaine</a> dans laquelle la commune est exposée à un <a href="Climat_de_la_France#MF-T1" title="Climat de la France">climat océanique</a><sup id="cite_ref-11" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-11"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>9<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> et est dans la région climatique <a href="Climat_de_la_France#MF-R3" title="Climat de la France"> Côtes de la Manche orientale</a>, caractérisée par un faible ensoleillement (1&nbsp;550&nbsp;<abbr class="abbr" title="heure par an">h/an</abbr>)&nbsp;; forte humidité de l’air (plus de <span class="nowrap">20 h/jour</span> avec humidité relative &gt; 80&nbsp;% en hiver), vents forts fréquents<sup id="cite_ref-12" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-12"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>10<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. Elle est en outre dans la <a href="Climat_de_la_France#Zonage_climatique_2020,_support_de_la_RE_2020" title="Climat de la France">zone H1a</a> au titre de la <a href="R%C3%A9glementation_environnementale_2020" title="Réglementation environnementale 2020">réglementation environnementale 2020</a> des constructions neuves<sup id="cite_ref-13" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-13"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>11<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup><sup class="reference cite_virgule">,</sup><sup id="cite_ref-14" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-14"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>12<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>.
</p><p>Pour la période 1971-2000, la température annuelle moyenne est de <span title="50,4 °F ou 283,4 K">10,2&nbsp;</span><abbr class="abbr" title="degré Celsius">°C</abbr>, avec une <a href="Amplitude_thermique" title="Amplitude thermique">amplitude thermique</a> annuelle de <span title="56,7 °F ou 286,9 K">13,7&nbsp;</span><abbr class="abbr" title="degré Celsius">°C</abbr>. Le cumul annuel moyen de précipitations est de 716&nbsp;<abbr class="abbr" title="millimètre">mm</abbr>, avec <span class="nowrap">11,8 jours</span> de précipitations en janvier et <span class="nowrap">8,4 jours</span> en juillet<sup id="cite_ref-Joly_9-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Joly-9"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>7<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. <p>L'activité économique était liée en partie à l'industrie du fer et elle a permis un développement de ses infrastructures telle que la halle, qui montre l'importance d'un ancien marché, ou bien les dimensions de l'église, qui abrite entre autres, le plus beau <a href="Retable" title="Retable">retable</a> de l'Eure.

<dl><dd><dl><dd>Longues de 55&nbsp;mètres lors de leur construction, les halles furent réduites à 35&nbsp;mètres en 1865. En effet, le conseil municipal avait jugé l'édifice trop grand pour les besoins des marchés et des foires. De plus, il posait des problèmes de circulation au centre du village. Jusqu'en 1930, le deuxième jour de novembre, s'y tenait un marché aux pommes. Aujourd'hui, chaque troisième dimanche du mois, les halles accueillent un marché de brocanteurs et d'antiquaires<sup id="cite_ref-59" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-59"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>54<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>.</dd></dl></dd></dl>
